Who we are
Happy Cannibals is a theatre company established by three Cambridge grads looking to create theatre focused on the influence of the modern world on interpersonal relationships.

Jessica Murdoch is an actor and theatre-maker who grew up in London and Manchester. As well as working on over 40 productions while undertaking her BA in English at the University of Cambridge, Jessica has trained with the Royal Exchange Young Company and the National Youth Theatre of GB. Outside of theatre, her interests lie in psychology, movement, and music. She is currently completing the final year of her Master’s in Acting at The Juilliard School, New York.

Maya Yousif is a full time development/script editor at South of the River Pictures, and an occasional writer for fun. Since graduating from the University of Cambridge with a degree in Theology, Maya has worked extensively in TV/film production and development. Alongside her full time job, Maya is now an industry mentor on the C4 Screenwriting scheme, and is co-producing Rachel Kitts’ debut short film, Lemons. She loves new writing, and is delighted to be a co-founder of The Happy Cannibals.

After studying English at the University of Cambridge, Rachel took an MA in Classical Theatre at LAMDA where she developed her skills as an actor and theatre maker. Rachel is deeply interested in performance, pedagogy, and how theatre can nurture and create compassionate communities.
